Professor at USN

Shegaw Mengiste is a Professor of informatics at the University of South-Eastern Norway (USN), School of Business. Dr. Shegaw has a strong portfolio in research, teaching, student supervision and project management in the field of Information Systems, eHealth, and digital innovation. He is an advocate of engaged scholarship and published more than 30 peer-reviewed articles in scientific journals and conference proceedings. He managed to write successful grant proposals in partnership with other scholars and researchers. He is now the project coordinator of three successful international projects: NURTURE, SEARCH, and BETTEReHEALTH. In addition to leading and managing several academic and research projects, Shegaw has also been the Managing Director of the Ethiopian Norwegian Professional organization (ENPO) for the last four years.

Shegaw got his BSc. in Information Science, and MSC. in information Technology from Addis Ababa University, School of Information Studies in Africa. From October 1998 – January 2005 he worked as Lecturer, Addis Ababa University (AAU), Department of Information Science, Faculty of Informatics, Addis Ababa, Ethiopia. From February 2005 – November 2009 he studied his PhD at Department Informatics, Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences, University of Oslo. After his PhD he worked as Assistant Professor, Aalborg University and IT University of Copenhagen.
