Associate professor at DMU

Askalemariam Adamu is an associate professor in educational psychology at the Institute of Educational and Behavioural sciences at Debre Markos University. She has got a Bachelor of Education in Pedagogical Science from Bahir Dar University, a Master of Arts Degree in Measurement and Evaluation from Addis Ababa University, and Ph.D. in Didactics from the University of South Africa.

Dr. Askalemariam is actively involved in doing research and carrying out projects, many of which are aimed at improving the quality of education in early childhood, primary, secondary, and higher levels. She has more than 12 publications in international peer-reviewed journals. She also takes part in a variety of community service activities, advising MA students, teaching a range of courses in both undergraduate and graduate programs, providing various pieces of training pertaining to education, and taking on other leadership positions in the university. She has made significant contributions to the development of the university, such as actively participating in the development of the university’s ten-year strategic plan and other guidelines. She has received recognition as a best researcher and instructor at the university and national levels as a result of these facts.

Dr. Askalemariam has worked at Debre Markos University as a testing center officer, the director of the delivery unit, and the director of the institutional quality assurance directorate. As a director, she has done many remarkable activities to ensure the quality of education in the university including quality audit, creating partnership and establishing SMART classrooms. She is currently working at Debre Markos University as a Vice President of Research and Community Services and Coordinator of the NURTURE project.

Her research and project interest are on improving the quality of education and ensuring inclusiveness.
